Chourang is part of Shigmo Festival. Shigmo is a symbol of communal harmony over the years. Shigmo is the folk festival of Goan Hindu which displays a variety of folk dances, music, theatre forms, and etc. In this dance, form songs are depicted from the Ramayan and Mahabharat which are accompanied by musical instruments like Ghumat, Shamel, and Zhanj. The main player sings a few lines of the Chourang and the others follow it. The dancers bend down after singing a couplet from the song with the music and rhythm, the dancers begin dancing in a circle.
