This dance is performed during festive occasions, agricultural activities, and marriage ceremonies wearing traditional dresses and costumes. 15 to 20 males & females dance together with sticks in their hands. Shaila Dance is a traditional dance of the Gond Community The male members wear peacock feathers with one moving around wearing a mask, to protect the performers from outside adversity. All the members of the community perform the dance and enjoy themselves. This dance is mostly performed in the rainy season in the month of June. On the eve of the Makar Sankranti, this dance is also performed continuously for 5 days when worshipping Lord Shiva and Pravati.
