This dance originated from the bandit regions of Shekhawati and is generally performed for the entertainment of the bridegrooms party. It is performed by men on dummy horses. Men wear elaborate costumes- red turbans and dhotis and kurtas, embellished with brilliant mirrorwork. It reflects socio-historical events using mock fights and the brandishing of swords, nimble sidestepping and pirouetting to the music of fifes and drums. These dancers move rhythmically to the beating of drums and fifes by holding swords in their hands while the song of a singer narrates the exploitation of the Bavaria bandits of Shekhawati region.
