The agrarian Paroja community is mainly concentrated in the Koraput and Kalahandi districts of the southern and western parts of Odisha. Paroja dances are associated with agricultural work in different seasons such as Adosi, Nuakhia, Diati, Pus Parab and Chait Parab. Dhemsa is a very popular dance among the Paroja tribe. The Dhemsa is performed along with the tunes of the musical instruments like drums, big drums, etc. Most of the dances are based on the art of warfare and love. Wearing traditional arteries and costumes adds bravery to their dance.
