About type of art
The Oraon is one of the major tribes of Odisha. They are mostly concentrated in Sundargarh, Sambalpur, and Bolangir districts. Their mother tongue is Kurkh. They are also well conversant in Sadri and Oriya languages. They depend on agriculture for their livelihood. Karma and Jeth Jatra are their main festivals. They usually perform this dance in front of the village dormitory. Both the boys and girls wearing traditional costumes, participate in the dance. The line of dancers turns round and round led by a lead dancer. Musical instruments such as Nagara, Madal, Kartal, Jhumka, etc. are played during the dance.
