Gondi Karma (Shadi) Dance
District- Betul
Karma Dance- This dance of Gond tribe is performed in Betul district and its surrounding villages. Karma dance is started on the day of Phagun Holi. This dance has been performed since their ancestors. This dance is performed by both the parties at the time of marriage. The bride and groom try to woo each other through songs and it is performed in the form of a competition. Apart from marriage, this dance is performed at various places in the village fairs after Holi. This dance is started in the month of March and at the time of Holi and is stopped in the month of June and in the preparation of the arena. This dance is performed through the village. This Karma dance is also performed by boys and girls. It is performed with sticks in the hands of boys and handkerchiefs and cymbals in the hands of girls. And in their attire, boys wear dhoti, kurta, turban, black jacket and thurra on the head and girls wear 16-yard long lugra in colorful colors. Gajra is worn in hair, bangles in hands, anklets are worn in feet.
Instrumental instruments- Dhol, Tasa, Dhera Timki, such instruments are played.
This is called the program of Karma dance.
