In Gond, they are called Shinoli, in Madia they are called Mersing Muda, in Korku they are called Veer, and in Konkna, Warli they are called Veergal. Shinoli comes in different shapes, from simple planks to thick pillars and even tall wooden houses that are buried. Symbolic pictures are engraved on all of them. The religious beliefs of tribals are closely related to nature. They believe that every living and non-living thing has a soul. Therefore, the concept of God, Patir, Bhoot, and Pishachch has emerged in the tribal community. The practice of worshipping the god of the dead is aimed at appeasing the spirits of the deceased so they do not become angry. The shape and design of Shinoli are carved based on the social status and prestige of the deceased in their village. Animal motifs, especially bulls, cows, and horses, are commonly found on them. The height of the pillar reflects the social status of the deceased. For example, the pillars of the Nayak family of Gayata are known for their intricate carvings. In addition to wood, stone pillars are also erected in some places. Wooden poles or tall wooden objects are found among the Konkan, Warli, Thakur, and Bhil tribes living in the Sahyadri and Satpura hills. They are known by names like Supali, Veeral, Virgal, Ir, and Pitar
