Dimsa is the most well-known dance perform by 18 different tribes including Bagata, Valmiki, Poraja, Khond, Gadaba, Kondadora, Mukadora, Kotia etc in the Paderu region of ASR District. Dimsa dance variants symbolize the unity of the tribal community. They represent their cultural heritage. Despite rapid changes in their social milieu, it is indisputable that the tribals have not forsaken their traditions and craftsmanship. Various themes of the Dimsa, are woven around their mythologies, folktales, ethos, mores, economic activities and their kinship and marital life etc. One can notice that during the festivals, the hills and valleys reverberate with the melodious songs and music of this dimsa. Any man can dance along with any woman without compunction. Song is not a necessary accompaniment in Dimsa. But music is an essential part. After all, dance does not simply happen without music. Dimsa has different variants. And every variety has a special musical instrument. The traditional music which directs and controls the rhythms of the dance is played traditional musical instruments are dappu, tudumu, mori, kidgi, gilka, and jodukommulu. Menfolk play the musical instruments. However, Jodukommilu is now almost out of use. Tribals enjoy performing Dimsa especially during their festivities, marriages and other religious occasions. The most jovial occasion for the tribals of agency area of ASR district is Chaitrapurab or Eetela Panduga. The festival continues for one month and the entire month is spent in common feasting, night long dancing with campfire and singing romantic folksongs. This dance is performed during weddings to placate the boy upset with his girl, and forcing him to join the dance.
